As you can see, we hit all the standard tourist traps - the Colosseum, the Altare della Patria, the Spanish Steps. We ended up not going to the Vatican because (again) we didn't bring suitable clothing, although I did end up going to see it in the middle of the night, and it was beautiful (from the outside at least). Even though I couldn't go in, I would definitely recommend packing something that will cover your knees and shoulders, so you at least have the option (I was so close to bringing that damn maxi dress) because I regret it now.
We were staying in a hostel which was awesome because we met so many people from all over the world (most of whom spoke amazing English) and we ended up going out every night, sometimes with people from the hostel and sometimes with people we'd met when we'd been out the night before! Rome's not particularly known for it's night life - in fact when we went to a student bar area and there were no clubs or anything, just weird bars where there was nowhere to dance and everyone was just standing and drinking outside. Luckily the nights when we went out with the hostel were much better (the open bar helped!)
Although it was strange going away with my sisters I'm glad we did it (while we have no responsibilities!) and I think it probably wont be the last time we go away together. It was strange being back in Rome (because I went there during my last trip to Italy) but with my sisters I saw a completely different side to the city and had a great new experience. Unfortunately this time the Trevi Fountain was going through some sort of repair so I couldn't throw any coins in, so who knows the next time I'll be back.
For now it's on to the next trip - bigger and better, I'll be travelling through Asia and Australia so watch out for that...
