So I don't know about anyone else, but looking at the Indian visa application I became a bit overwhelmed and avoided it for several weeks. Unfortunately if I avoid it for much longer I doubt it'll get back in time, so I'm biting the bullet and getting it done.
It actually hasn't been as bad as I originally anticipated..
1 - first I went to https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/ and clicked on the 'apply online' link at the bottom which took me to a link where I could fill out a series of questions relating to my life, my passport and where I was going in India. Once you get to the end you can download it and then print it off to be sent to London.
2 - once you get to the end of the application you can make an appointment. This doesn't necessarily actually mean an appointment. It's also just for when you want to send it in the post.

Rome 2014
So I'm only going to do one post for our Rome trip (like I did for Amsterdam) mostly because my sister made an awesome video that pretty much sums up our whole trip, but also partly because it was more of a holiday than a travel experience so I reckon I can just fit it all in to one (pretty long) post...
As you can see, we hit all the standard tourist traps - the Colosseum, the Altare della Patria, the Spanish Steps. We ended up not going to the Vatican because (again) we didn't bring suitable clothing, although I did end up going to see it in the middle of the night, and it was beautiful (from the outside at least). Even though I couldn't go in, I would definitely recommend packing something that will cover your knees and shoulders, so you at least have the option (I was so close to bringing that damn maxi dress) because I regret it now.
We were staying in a hostel which was awesome because we met so many people from all over the world (most of whom spoke amazing English) and we ended up going out every night, sometimes with people from the hostel and sometimes with people we'd met when we'd been out the night before! Rome's not particularly known for it's night life - in fact when we went to a student bar area and there were no clubs or anything, just weird bars where there was nowhere to dance and everyone was just standing and drinking outside. Luckily the nights when we went out with the hostel were much better (the open bar helped!)
Although it was strange going away with my sisters I'm glad we did it (while we have no responsibilities!) and I think it probably wont be the last time we go away together. It was strange being back in Rome (because I went there during my last trip to Italy) but with my sisters I saw a completely different side to the city and had a great new experience. Unfortunately this time the Trevi Fountain was going through some sort of repair so I couldn't throw any coins in, so who knows the next time I'll be back.
For now it's on to the next trip - bigger and better, I'll be travelling through Asia and Australia so watch out for that...

If you're wondering if I managed to fit all my clothes into a carry on or how I could bring all my toiletries with me despite the liquid limitations, check out my How To section!

How To - Carry On - Liquids
How do I fit all my liquids in this tiny bag? What am I allowed? Does make up count?
So I'm going to Rome for a week with my sisters pretty soon and to keep the costs down I'm refusing to pay extra to check our bags in which means we have to fit all our little liquids into the carry on requirements - fun. (not fun)
